Below you can see a list of the services that are offered at our facility along with a brief description of the equpiment we utilize here at Kingston, Tennessee’s only full service veterinary hospital!
Preventive Care
From kittens and puppies to geriatric patients, preventive care is the gateway to keeping your pet a healthy, happy and active part of your family for years to come. The importance of preventive health care cannot be overstressed. You can do your part by keeping your pet current with our recommendations for biannual comprehensive physical exams, booster vaccines, heartworm tests and intestinal parasite screening. We consider regular heartworm test and year-round heartworm preventive and flea and tick control a necessity for pets in our area.
Also, as part of preventive health, we strongly recommend spaying and neutering for any animal not being used for breeding. Additionally, preventive health care including routine preventive blood work and additional screening tests allow our veterinarians to detect disease processes earlier, assist in disease prevention and manage chronic health problems. A comprehensive assessment of your pet’s needs allows us to develop individual health care guidelines to enhance the comfort and quality of life for your furry companion.
Surgery
Our hospital includes up to date surgical facilities and provides modern anesthetic techniques (including isoflurane and desflurane gas anesthesia), state of the art patient monitoring (including pulse oximetry, capnography, non-invasive blood pressure, and electrocardiography), and the performance of a wide variety of soft tissue, orthopedic, and elective procedures.
In addition, we have a large contingent of veterinary surgeons available to perform more sophisticated technical surgeries via in house referral to a specialist.
Dentistry
Many pets have tartar buildup and gum infections. Periodontal disease is very common in older dogs and causes bad breath, and often-serious infections. A dental exam can determine whether your pet needs preventive dental care such as scaling, polishing, and antibiotics.
If your pet fits this category, he or she may be in need of a complete oral assessment and treatment. Professional dental cleaning is a common procedure that can be done in a one-day at our hospital.
Your pet will be anesthetized under general anesthesia for the procedure. Once anesthetized a complete oral assessment will be made, a treatment plan developed and your pet’s teeth will be professionally cleaned.
In-House Pharmacy
The doctors at Kingston Animal Hospital are constantly keeping up with the latest advancements in animal medicine and preventative treatment. A complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, medicated shampoos, flea and tick control, and heartworm preventatives are maintained to meet the needs of our patients.
Diagnostics
The doctors at Kingston Hospital have access to extensive in-house diagnostic equipment. This results in a quicker and more accurate diagnosis for your pet!
In house diagnostic capabilities include serum chemistry analysis, hematology, serology, endoscopy, echocardiography, ultrasonography, and parasitological. When necessary we have access to outside commercial laboratories for specialized diagnostic testing and consultation.
Our radiographic equipment is also state of the art and provides radiographic diagnosis of many conditions. Other diagnostic services are also provided such as electrocardiograms (ECG) and pulse oximetry. More sophisticated diagnostics, such as CT scan and MRI, are available via in house referral to a specialist.
